Service Awards
Each year, nominations are accepted for Community Service Awards for outstanding voluntary service which benefits Arkansans.
These awards honor seven adult individuals, one youth and two corporations.
Living In Truth is most grateful to be a recipient of the 2005 Arkansas Community Service Award, honoring the selfless dedication of our own Director, Carol Curry.

he Living In Truth organization was recognized and awarded recently at a volunteerism award ceremony in Little Rock. Accepting the award was president Roger Daugherty, secretary Keith Prewitt, and director Carol Curry.
Locally based, Living in Truth, a 501 (c)3, non-profit prisoner advocacy organization was awarded the KARK Community Service Volunteerism Award at the Embassy Suites during an elegant, live televised $100 a plate dinner in Little Rock on Tuesday, June 28, 2005. The award is sponsored by KARK, St. Vincent’s Health Systems, the Governor’s office and The Arkansas Division of Volunteerism.
As part of the recognition, earlier in the day, honorees were treated to a formal luncheon in the Governor’s mansion with Mrs. Janet Huckabee hosting. In addition to the award, Living In Truth received a $500.00 donation from the Polaris dealers of Arkansas.
The Community Service Awards are selected on the basis of letters of nomination that are submitted. Living In Truth was nominated numerous times by prisoners, their loved ones and other individuals who wanted this work to be acknowledged.
Living In Truth helps prisoner and their loved ones overcome the problems presented by the prison experience. They are currently conducting a prison-wide literacy program providing the over 13,000 Arkansas prisoners with dictionaries. Living In Truth is also creating a state wide visitor car pool database, which connects those with transportation with those who need transportation. To date, Living In Truth has supplied 1122 prisoners with dictionaries and has facilitated over 40 visitations through these programs.
Living In Truth also performs as a resource center, providing information on halfway houses, community services, other literacy projects, Bible study, pen pals, etc.
